11/9/2023 0 Comments Primary songbook![]() A lot of these files I don’t need all the time, but they are helpful for my subs and when it’s planning time. ![]() Reference Section:Īt the front of the binder I have a section of resources that are helpful when planning my lessons throughout the week/month. Since these items change every week, I don’t put a lot of effort into preserving them or giving them a permanent spot in my binder. Such as cutout images, word strips, smaller pictures, or even just notes around a song story or plan for the week. The rest of the pocket I use to store any notes or plans for the weeks lesson plan that might not fit in a three-ring approach. The individual pages don’t block my song list – so this helps keep me on track during Singing Time! I love the song list’s 2-column design as I can easily see all the songs, even when I’m halfway through my binder pages. I made a free printable that you can use, and edit as needed. In the far left side of my binder’s front pocket I keep the monthly song list. This lets me start at the very front of the binder and simply flip my way from one song to the next from the beginning of Primary all the way through the closing song. That might be a flip chart or pictures, or other paper props that go with the song. Under each tab, I have a printed copy of the songs we will be singing and any additional helps I have prepared. Red for wiggle songs, yellow for opening, etc. I started with color coded dividers that correspond to my singing time colors. I do have a second much larger binder I keep at home to store all the extra songs that aren’t currently in use. But you can use whatever you already have on hand. I do have quite a bit of extra space, I could get away with a 1″ binder. Getting Organized with a Primary Singing Time Binder Shopping through my link earns me a small commission, at no cost to you. Here’s how I set up my singing time binder system… You’re going to be itching for it in just a minute when you see how I use these two things together. The whole setup correlates with my Monthly Singing Time Song List, if you haven’t checked out that post, make sure you open it in another tab. I love everything about using the binder – and especially handing it off to subs when I need one, as they have absolutely everything they need right in the order they need it. Instead, I have a month plan of what songs I’ll be using and I organize a Primary singing time binder to keep everything in order, organized, and a cinch to find! I still don’t carry my Primary songbook with me to church anymore, except maybe a handful of Sundays each year when we play a game that might call for a variety of songs. I decided to ditch my songbook completely! Enter – the Primary Singing Time Binder!! <– This post has been UPDATED and you can find the latest version and SO MANY singing time song helps over on my new blog Primary Singing! I was a mess of sticky notes, a pile of papers, and it was hard to stay organized. It also gives our Presidency the opportunity to check that the children giving the talk, scripture and prayer are present on the day. When I first got started as a Primary music leader, I would fumble through the songbook, even with the little paper tabs, trying to make my way to the different songs. We sing along with my student, which get the attention of the children. I have a student of mine in Snr Primary play simplified Primary Songs while Snr Primary is walking in to Opening Exercises, and our Jnr Primary is making their way back from having a drink and/or going to the toilet. ![]() I don’t have a primary pianist called as yet, but I have someone fill in for me (except the one Sunday she teaches RS. They also have some simplified hymns and choir arrangements. There is also Michael and Heather Smuthwaite who have kept the songs in their original key from the Children’s Songbook, added fingering and have a feature where you can listen to the song as well. She has made the songs very simple, included colour pictures from the Primary Songbook and has some pre-reading songs too (notes with finger numbers, not on the stave). ![]() I know it must have taken them hours and hours to do. I have come across two great sites with kind people who have simplified Primary songs, free to download.
